All consumables used in the treatment room are paid for by the practice. We do not get any practice subsidy or any other help to meet these costs. As many of you are aware, the costs of running a practice have been steadily increasing, such that we are no longer able to subsidise the costs of the treatment room. For this reason Treatment Room fees (TR fees) are now payable, regardless of concession status.
The fee will be invoiced to you at the time of the booking for the procedure. Please note there is no Medicare rebate for this fee. This fee is non-refundable, unless you cancel 48hrs before the appointment. The fee structure is a stepwise one, reflecting the complexity of the procedure and the variety of consumables used. Please note this fee is separate to the private fee charged by the doctor for performing the procedure.
Example | TR Fee | |
Simple | removal of sutures, simple wound dressing, ear syringe | $35.00 |
Complex | punch biopsy, shave excision, Implanon insertion / removal, complex wound dressings, burns dressings | $45.00 |
Complex Plus | full excision of a skin lesion, iron infusion, zoledronic acid infusion, ingrown toe nail surgery | $65.00 |
Payment for Service
Fees are payable at the time of consultation. The preferred method of payment is EFTPOS, however we do also accept cash and direct deposit payments.
Tyro Medicare Easyclaim is available when paying your account in full at reception. This allows an instant Medicare rebate to be deposited to your cheque or savings account using our integrated EFTPOS machine. Processing of your Medicare rebate may be delayed by up to 5 business days for payments made by direct deposit.
Failure to Attend
We understand that unplanned issues can arise, and you may need to cancel an appointment. If this occurs, we kindly ask that scheduled appointments be cancelled at least 2 hours in advance. We will happily reschedule you for another time. That way, we can offer the appointment time to someone else, meaning everyone gets to see a doctor. When a patient does not show for their scheduled appointment, other patients lose the opportunity to be seen.
Patients who do not attend their appointment without prior notification to us will be required to pay a “failure to attend” fee of $40. This fee is to be paid before your next appointment and there is no rebate available from Medicare.
